Dr. Souci Louis grew up on Long Island, New York, with a lifelong interest in veterinary medicine.
She earned her B.S. in Biology from Stony Brook University and her M.P.H. in Epidemiology from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.
After graduating, Dr. Louis worked in general practice as a veterinarian in the metro Atlanta area. In 2023, she joined CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Fellowship Program and commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. She is currently assigned to CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, where she works on the Antimicrobial Resistance Team. In this role, she consults with health departments to prevent and reduce transmission of antimicrobial resistant infections. Her work also includes supporting wastewater surveillance activities and investigating multistate outbreaks involving antimicrobial resistant pathogens.
In 2025, Dr. Louis became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM). Outside of work, she enjoys biking, learning French, community outreach, and spending time with her two cats, Rocky and Anubis.
