Projects in Progress

Projects in Progress (PiP) is Bridging the Gaps’ ongoing program designed to support early‑stage ideas, emerging community projects, and innovative approaches to health equity. PiP brings together students, alumni, community partners, faculty, and grantmakers for a fast‑paced, collaborative experience where ideas are strengthened through collective problem‑solving.

Each year, the program convenes a diverse group of project leads who are ready to share their ideas and receive actionable guidance from a multi‑sector network committed to advancing community well-being.

An interactive space to advance ideas, build partnerships, and strengthen community impact.

How it Works

1. Lightning Presentations

Participants begin with a 3‑minute presentation highlighting the core of their project or idea—its purpose, the community it aims to serve, and the challenges or questions they hope to explore. These concise presentations set the stage for deep, targeted engagement during the workshop sessions.

2. Roundtable Workshops

Following presentations, participants engage in three rotating roundtable sessions. Each table is made up of a mix of:

  • Community members
  • Bridging the Gaps alumni
  • Faculty and practitioners
  • Foundation representatives and grantmakers
  • Students and emerging leaders

These groups collaborate to workshop each project—identifying opportunities, addressing barriers, sharing resources, and uncovering potential partnerships.

3. Building Momentum Together

The goal of PiP is simple: help each project move forward. Whether through new collaborators, clearer next steps, or connections to funding and community partners, participants leave with practical insights to advance their work.
