THE STORY OF BTG
Developing a documentary film about Bridging the Gaps is not only about the finished product being able to communicate the strength of this 35-year-old program to a wider audience...
The documentary is a tool to bring together diverse sectors working towards a health system that addresses the multiple factors that impact health.

The 65-minute feature film captures the vibrant moments of meaningful interpersonal connection that are the magic of Bridging the Gaps. It also shows what it takes to build and sustain a meaningful program in an ever-changing world.
The documentary explores the 35-year legacy of the Bridging the Gaps (BTG) program, directed by Peabody Award Winner André Robert Lee, narrated by acclaimed actor Wendell Pierce, and music by celebrated composer King Britt from his collaboration with Tyshawn Sorey, capturing the program’s unique ability to foster meaningful connections across diverse cultures and the transformative self-realizations that results.
To others working in this space, the BTG Documentary invites you to take pieces of our process and use them as tools, learning from our challenges and opportunities in creating and sustaining mutually beneficial academic-community partnerships and in training health and social service professional students. Undoubtedly, the attention to detail in the documentary will also add to our own self-examination and enhancement.
