THE STORY OF BTG
Developing a documentary film about Bridging the Gaps is not only about the finished product being able to communicate the strength of this 35-year-old program to a wider audience...
The process of creating the film is also an opportunity to explore the "magic" that happens in the program that is often difficult to define.

André Robert Lee and Nick Pitcavage are experienced filmmakers and producers adept at engaging with individuals “in the moment” as they are actively participating in the program.
The film will capture the vibrant moments of meaningful interpersonal connections across diverse cultures and self-realizations that are the magic of Bridging the Gaps. It also will capture what it takes to build and sustain a meaningful program in an ever-changing world.
To others working in this space, the BTG Documentary invites you to take pieces of our process and use them as tools, learning from our challenges and opportunities in creating and sustaining mutually beneficial academic-community partnerships and in training health and social service professional students. Undoubtedly, the attention to detail in the documentary will also add to our own self-examination and enhancement.
SAVE THE DATE!
The BTG Documentary will premiere at the 35th Annual Symposium in October 2025

Knowing his ability to effect change through filmmaking and media, the Bridging the Gaps (BTG) Program approached filmmaker André Robert Lee about making a documentary that tells the story of Bridging the Gaps, a 35 year program linking the training of health and social service professionals with the provision of health related service in under resourced and marginalized communities.
